🗺️ 1. The map

The map opens on Montréal, city zoom. Each dot is an obstruction:

Your framing and zoom are remembered per province. Closing a card never changes your zoom.

🔀 2. Display modes

ModeShows
🚧 ObstructionsRoad obstructions only
🛰️ GPSYour position, navigation, traffic — no obstruction dots
🔀 MixedBoth
🧭 NavType or dictate a destination → guided turn-by-turn

Mobile: ☰ → Modes. Desktop: buttons above the map.

🧱 3. Layers

Menu ☰ (mobile) or layers button (desktop):

Choices are remembered on your device.

🚧 4. The obstruction card

Closing the card (✕) drops you back on the map at the exact same zoom, no manual scrolling.

✋ 5. Report an obstruction

  1. "Report an obstruction" button.
  2. Title, street, type, description, position (auto GPS or tap the map).
  3. Send → the dot appears immediately + 🎉 confetti.

Reports are moderated: the manager can publish, hide or delete from the back office (🚧 Reports tab).

🛰️ 6. GPS & built-in navigation

In "coming soon" provinces the GPS already works: GPS button next to "Soon", TomTom live traffic everywhere in Canada.

🚨 7. "Get me out of here"

Stuck in an obstruction? The 🚨 button computes the best escape route from your position and guides you by voice.

PWA shortcut: long-press the app icon → Get me out.

🎤 8. Voice assistant

Tap 🎤 and speak. The answer is shown AND spoken (designed for driving).

Commands

Saint Lawrence street — zooms, opens the card and says it
my position
get me out of here
metro · traffic · power outage · hospital · firefighters · police
female voice · male voice · faster · slower

Auto mode (wake word)

Double-tap 🎤 (long-press on mobile): the golden ring lights up. Just say "MtlTrafic" followed by your request. Tap again to stop.

The mic needs HTTPS (mtltrafic.com ✓) and browser permission. Recent Chrome/Safari recommended.

⚡ 9. Safety & vital networks hub

The ⚡ button opens everything safety-related, in drop-down menus:

Everything is voice-accessible: power outage hospital firefighters police

🚌 10. Transit — metro, bus, Exo & REM

🍁 11. Provinces

The selector next to the logo opens Québec (full data: City of Montréal + 511) and British Columbia.

Other provinces: the built-in map with live TomTom traffic works everywhere in Canada + the GPS navigation via the button next to "Soon". Local obstruction data will be added region by region.

🔔 12. Personal alerts

"The worst obstructions on your way, every morning": create an alert on a street or area — the site warns you when a match appears. The newsletter (page bottom) sends the morning recap.

📲 13. Install the app

Installed, it runs full-screen with shortcuts (long-press icon: Get me out, Advertiser portal…).

This manual lives inside the app: ☰ menu → 📘 Guide, and in every page footer. Available in 4 languages (FR/EN/ES/IT) — the app opens it in your language.

🏷️ 14. Button legend (colors & roles)

Every map button shares the same octagonal road-sign shape, wherever it sits. Colors = jobs:

Every button is draggable (hold ~120 ms then slide) and its position is remembered — even mid-navigation. Menu ☰ → "↺ Reset button positions" puts everything back (4 left, 4 right).
